Small-bore rifle shooting is carried out over distances of 25 yards, 50 metres and 100 yards, all outdoors. Air gun shooting (.177) is at 10 metres The club is usually able to provide newcomers with all the equipment required to learn to shoot, together with all necessary coaching. All you need to bring is yourself and enthusiasm.

This is one of the few sports where male and female and the able and those with disabilities compete equally against one another. Age is no bar to competition. You can start as soon as you are physically strong enough to hold a firearm safely and you can continue well beyond retirement age. Once you are proficient there are very many competitions around the country open to you so you are not restricted to just one venue.

The governing body of the sport is the National Small-bore Rifle Association. All shooting is done to the NSRA rule book guidelines. We enter individuals and teams for inter-club, County and National Competitions. Each year a group of members enter the Rifle Open Meeting week in August at Bisley.

If you already have a FAC for hunting with .22 you will have to get the conditions changed in order to use your own firearms on the club ranges. Hollow point and ammunition with a MV of over 1400 fps is not permitted as it is outside the safety limits of our Safety Certificates.
